In Dubai 2019
Goal
My life is not what I had envisioned thirty years ago as a fresh graduate from college. Instead of living in Singapore located on the equator and having a stable career and quiet life, I am now living near the north pole doing exactly the opposite thing. Having a career, running an exciting family business and keeping busy with volunteer work, life is not quiet to say the least.
I am the firstborn of five children to a father who is also the firstborn in a family of seven children. We are closely knit family with all the uncles, aunties and cousins living and working near each other. Being the oldest of more than 10 grandchildren, I have a natural predisposition of being a protector, always looking out for others. My training as a Student Cadet Corp in high school had helped me to never leave anyone behind.
Many things happened when I was in the UAE with many highs and lows; heartbreaks and celebrations. I believe my old self died in the desert with the birth of a new self and season in my life. With all the coincidences and miracles, I realize how quickly things can change which allowed me not to become too attached with things that have my name on them. History tells us that life is so fragile and unpredictable. My wish is to live a purpose driven life that could mobilize more positive change. Volunteering, empowering others and sharing the message of hope to inspire another human being is on my “to do list.”
